To each his own...melons!

We love our two huskies to bits, but sometimes...we just don't know!

If it isn't one thing, it's another. We have been leaving the pups indoors for quite sometime now, actually...years now. Lord knows that my husband has tried everything imaginable, big or small, expensive or...well expensive just to try to give our two furry children the most comfortable life they have ever had. After all, they are rescue dogs. We do believe that they deserve it. But for some reason, they just do not believe they belong outside, especially our male husky. He has escaped from every containment we have tried to put him in just so he could figure out how to get back into the house. We suppose that to him, it was kind of a game. He is a real smart dog and lives up to the husky trait as quite the Houdini. He is a true blue escape artist.

Our female husky is gorgeous and she knows it, the little princess! She may not be the athletic one or the escape artist but don't be fooled. She is no dummy. That angel face is just as mischievous as the male husky. She is quite the "surfer". Dining tables and counters are her specialty. Oh and also, she could unzip a zipper! I should have taken a picture of my diaper bag.

On one of our short trips to the mall, we were being diligent in putting everything away...or so we thought. My husband had just gone to the grocery store to get fresh fruits. After unloading them from the car I made sure that they were out of sight (putting them in our reusable grocery bags, on top of the kitchen counter pushed all the way back) from the dogs. Well, I should have put the fruits out of smell as well, even in a completely separate room. Needless to say, Layla (we're pretty sure it was her) got to the reusable grocery bags, pulled it down to the floor and the dogs each had a fill of their own personal melons, cantaloupe or honeydew.

The cantaloupe was Layla's choice. We know it was her because there were dewclaw marks on the side to keep it from rolling away.

Lobo had his dewclaws taken out sometime back so he had the honeydew. In any case, when we got home, the neatly packed bag was on the floor, the box of powdered baking cocoa spilled all over the floor, an empty ziploc bag where my son's left over Honey Maid crackers all gone and also on the floor, and a full bag of unopened unbleached flour also on the floor but still unopened.

Well, thank goodness to the melons (small favors?) they ignored the spilled cocoa. That would have been a very bad and expensive vet bill.
